SieMatic launches its ground breaking S1 kitchen into UK
Leading German kitchen manufacturer, SieMatic, has launched its pioneering high-tech kitchen, the S1, into the UK market. Previewed in Milan in the Spring, the S1 drew critical acclaim from a wide and international design community. The idea behind the design is to create a perfect living environment within the contemporary domestic kitchen.
Shown in the latest Truffle Grey gloss lacquer finish but also available in two wood tones, Velvet Oak and Sukupira Graphite as well as Lotus White matt lacquer, an entire multimedia system has been incorporated into the S1 kitchen by the use of a ‘Smart Board’. This electronic strip sits beneath the wall cabinets and contains touch controls to all electronic gadgets in the kitchen, from the staple kitchen equipment like an extractor hood, to a 17 inch flat screen LCD TV that is built into the glass back splash. The controls also offer both internal and external temperature readings, as well as an advanced lighting system. The lights can be bright and focussed for tasks like food preparation, or colour co-ordinated to suit the mood of an evening (‘ambient lighting’), with the chromo-therapy light system ranging through the entire spectrum. The light colours can be set to gradually rotate, or can be fixed on a particular desired colour.
The iPod docking system, also controlled via the ‘SmartBoard’, allows music to be played through speakers fitted underneath the SmartBoard, wherever the customer chooses. The possibilities are endless, so much so that the customer can choose to have a computer with internet and email incorporated into the LCD TV that is built into the splashback.
A fundamental part of the S1 design is the new ‘MaticMotion’ drawer release mechanisms. These new easy press, colour coded buttons are concealed from view by the worktop yet can be easily found in the top drawer handle groove. The handle, designed by Bugattti’s handle manufacturer, incorporates colour coded mechanical release buttons. The Red buttons release the drawers themselves while silver buttons manually release internal compartments within the drawers. Opening up a multitude of internal storage systems, called MultiMatic II, the use of these ‘MaticMotion’ buttons means that the clean line of the kitchen is kept un-adulterated and dirty fingers are kept away from the ‘piano quality’ high gloss lacquer doors.
The S1 kitchen retails from £50,000. For further information on SieMatic web site www.siematic.co.uk

SieMatic launch S2
Always leading the field in kitchen design and innovation; German furniture manufacturer, SieMatic, has launched the S2.
The streamlined, handleless kitchen has taken much of its design from the award winning SieMatic S1, launched in 2008. However the S1 reached price tags of over £100,000 and so the S2 has been designed to bring the technology into a more mainstream price bracket with kitchens starting from around £20,000.
Part of the S2 includes a flush fitted television screen that sits neatly into an oven housing. When needed, the monitor can be pulled out and swivelled for ease of use. Behind the screen is an Ipod docking station and a place for an air mouse and keyboard. The television can be used as a computer too, to access the internet and check emails, catering for the modern lifestyle. The Multi-media system has been adapted from the S1 but still allows customers a chance to have a truly unique and fully integrated technological system in their kitchen, and is also compatible with ‘Miele at Home’ appliances.
A new development has also been incorporated into the design of the S2 kitchen; a panel system with no handles that when pressed reveals hidden shallow depth storage units. These doors are made from glass and are available in four colours - Gloss White, Matt White, Black and Gold Bronze, and offer an alternative finish that reflects the light differently around the room whilst providing hidden storage. The ‘Gold Bronze’ colour is a new addition, and has been developed specifically for this glass panel system. It is the same colour that Mercedes-Benz and BMW are using this Winter, cementing SieMatic’s position as an innovator, always at the forefront of cutting edge design.
Available in every colour in the ‘Natural Colour System’ and a range of finishes, SieMatic’s S2 wowed visitors at the House Fair in Loehne, Germany, in late September 2009. UK Managing Director, Bernard Otulakowski says “Whilst many of our competitors launch new kitchen designs but leave customers frustrated for six months or so before an order can be placed, SieMatic’s S2 kitchen will be on display in the UK as early as December and available to purchase straight away.”

SieMatic MultiMatic - The Multi-functional System
Nominated for the European reddot Award for product design
The future of the kitchen is about how the owner’s lifestyle changes. What happens when that spacious single-person household becomes a flat for a small family? Or when those compact glasses of baby food have to make way for family-sized packs of Cornflakes? Well renowned for its expertise in the design and manufacture of beautiful kitchens, SieMatic has found through research that after two years of living with their kitchen, people feel the desire to update it, to make it more functional so that it fits in with changing lifestyles.
To ensure the longevity of the kitchen, SieMatic has created the MultiMatic system to help users stay equipped for all such changes. It is the first internal elements system that can be composed, supplemented, and modified according to individual requirements, and it is this better use of space and storage that is the future of kitchen design in practical, design and commercial terms. Whereas planning a kitchen usually means that the function of every cabinet element has to be carefully thought out in advance, since changing them later would be both troublesome and near on impossible, MultiMatic relieves the owner of the need to think about tomorrow today.
The MultiMatic system comprises a large number of internal elements to allow storage capacity to be utilised with even greater flexibility, and cabinets can become multi-functional units, offering storage solutions that can be incorporated to meet individual requirements.
There are 20 beautifully designed and engineered internal elements available within MultiMatic, including a bottle shelf, glass holder, scoop rack, scales, and a large number of different holders for coffee filters, towels, kitchen roll, aluminium foil, baking and serving trays or lids.
MultiMatic works on a patented internal mount and multi-functional track system, which can be attached to every carcass or door of a SieMatic overhead, base and tall cabinet, truly making it the best idea since the discovery of storage space.
